Exhibition on Revival of Traditional Textiles at Home Science College 30.11.23

The students of Govt Home Science College, Chandigarh exhibited their work on the theme "Revival of Traditional Folk art Through Textile," on the campus today. The main objective of the exhibition was to promote the various traditional art forms such as African art of Africa, Gandhara art of Ancient India, Madhubani Art of Bihar, Warli art of Maharashtra, Modern and Abstract art , Bandhani art of Gujarat and Rajasthan, Kalighat paintings of West Bengal. There were more than 12 stalls of different innovative textile products consisting of Wall panels, Dupattas, Bags, Paintings, cushions and crocheting etc Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal appreciated the efforts of the students in putting up this exhibition and emphasized that by embedding innovative creations in textiles and redeveloping traditional art forms, we would be able to revive the dying art forms which once have been flourished in India. These textiles have been modified and reconstructed for contemporary and modern uses.
