Workshop on Food Innovation, Analysis, and Patenting for Start-ups Held at Government Home Science College, Chandigarh 09.04.24

Government Home Science College, Chandigarh, hosted an enlightening workshop on Food Innovation ,Analysis, and Patenting for Start-ups.. The workshop was organised by Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Placement cell with the objective to give insights to the students about product development, types of sources of finance available for entrepreneurs, how to get your business registered and patented. The workshop is sponsered by Centre of Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing (CIAB) and Indian National Young Academy of Science (INYAS). Approximately 100 Graduate and Postgraduate students from various disciplines of Home science participated in the workshop, which provided a platform for learning, collaboration, and inspiration.The workshop witnessed engaging sessions led by two distinguished speakers, Dr. Meena Krishania and Dr. Vipasha Sharma. Dr. Krishania, a seasoned Scientist from the Center for Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing Center, Mohali, shared her expertise in Chemical engineering, Bioenergy, andIndustrial Biotechnology. She delved into the intricacies of idea generation, product development, and the critical process of patenting, captivating the audience with her insightful presentations.Dr. Vipasha Sharma, founder of startup Mkelly and Mushfit, and Professor from Chandigarh University, took the audience on a journey through her entrepreneurial endeavours. She shared her firsthand experiences of how she has been manufacturing various highly nutritive food products and other itemsfrom , cordysep milletaries. She also highlighted the challenges and triumphs of launching and sustaining a startup in the competitive landscape. Dr. Sharma also shed light on various startup schemes and incubator centres, empowering students with the knowledge and resources to kickstart their entrepreneurial journey.

The event served as a catalyst for innovation and collaboration, inspiring students to harness their creativity and passion for science towards creating impactful solutions in the realm of food technology. The workshop culminated with a heartfelt expression of gratitude from the Principal of college, who extended sincere thanks to the speakers for their visit. She commended the speakers for their invaluable contribution to the students' knowledge and encouraged the students to utilize the newfound insights in their research endeavors and entrepreneurial pursuits.
