WORLD WATER DAY CELEBRATED AT GHSC-10 (22.03.24)

Govt. Home Science college celebrated World Water Day on 22 March 2024 focusing on the theme ‘Water for Peace.’ This day aims to raise public consciousness about the importance of freshwater and the necessity to protect it. The first World Water Day was celebrated in 1993. It was first proposed at the United Nations (UN) conference on environment and development in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 and has been celebrated annually on 22 March since then. Every year the UN releases its World Water Development Report on or around this date. To mark the celebrations, Intra-college Poster making and Slogan writing competitions were organized for the students on the theme ‘Leveraging Water for Peace.’ The competitions received entries from more than 50 students. Pooja from B.Sc. H.Sc. 2nd sem won 1st prize, Vaghmare Shruthi from B.Sc. H.Sc. 4th sem won 2nd prize, Mehak from B.Sc. H.Sc. 2nd sem won 3rd prize and Shweta Sharma from M.Sc. FN 4th sem won Consolation prize in the competition. Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal, motivated the students to adopt water conservation strategies in our daily life and to create awareness about the same.
