GHSC-10 Advocates Self-Prepared Millet-Based Tiffin recipes under Poshan Maah

Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh, celebrated Poshan Maah with a presentation and live demonstration on “Healthy Millet-Based Tiffin Recipes” organized by the Department of Resource Management & Extension on 27th September, 2025.
The activity aimed to motivate young people to prepare their own healthy tiffins using millets, as a nutritious alternative to fast food . To spread awareness, students delivered PPT presentations highlighting the nutritional benefits of millets, their role in sustainable diets, and their importance in preventing lifestyle disorders.
In addition, students conducted live demonstrations of easy millet-based recipes suitable for tiffin boxes. They showcased innovative preparations such as millet based sandwiches, instant chaat, ragi idlis, and foxtail millet upma, proving that millet dishes can be both convenient and delicious for daily consumption.
The session inspired participants to cultivate cooking skills, adopt mindful eating habits, and revive the tradition of carrying self-prepared tiffin boxes.
Principal Prof. Sudha Katyal appreciated the students’ creativity and dedication, emphasizing the importance of self-prepared meals as a step toward healthier lifestyles.
