GHSC-10 Organises Door-to-Door Awareness Campaign on Avoiding Junk Food

As part of the ongoing Poshan Pakhwada celebrations, Government Home Science College, Chandigarh  a door-to-door awareness campaign on September 27, 2025. The initiative aimed at sensitising people about the harmful effects of junk food and promoting healthy eating habits.

The campaign included poster displays, slogan writing and cut-outs, through which cadets creatively conveyed messages about the dangers of consuming junk food. Moving across neighbourhoods, NCC cadets interacted with residents, explaining that junk foods are often high in oils, carbohydrates and sugar, but low in essential nutrients such as proteins and minerals. They highlighted how excessive consumption of such food items can lead to obesity, hypertension, reduced immunity, and other lifestyle-related health issues.
NCC cadets further encouraged the community to adopt simple but impactful dietary habits such as drinking adequate water to prevent dehydration and replacing junk food with healthier alternatives like boiled and germinated food items.

Principal Prof. Sudha Katyal appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the NCC Unit and commended their efforts in spreading awareness about nutrition and well-being. She further emphasised that such initiatives play a vital role in inspiring people to make mindful dietary choices and lead healthier lives.
