GHSC-10 Organises Hands-on Training on Gardening Skills

Government Home Science College, Chandigarh organised a hands-on training session on November 08, 2025 for the students of B.Sc. Home Science to enhance their practical understanding of gardening and plant care. The session  was conducted by Dr. Reenu, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry. She highlighted on various aspects of gardening which includes preparing a kitchen garden, identifying medicinal and ornamental plants, studying various garden tools and accessories and learning propagation techniques of roses.

Students actively participated in the training and gained valuable knowledge about sustainable gardening practices and plant maintenance. The activity aimed to promote environmental awareness and self-reliance in growing plants at home. The practical exposure helped students connect theoretical concepts with real-life applications making the learning experience enriching and enjoyable.

Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal, motivated the students to take part in such experiential learning programs and further encouraged students to prepare Kitchen garden at their home and grafting techniques to creating hybrid rose plants.
