Date: 08 November, 2025

Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh organised a sensitisation programme on “Health and Rights of Children and Adolescents” at Kajheri, Sector-52, Chandigarh in collaboration with Sifaaz Foundation (NGO).

The initiative aimed to create awareness about menstrual hygiene and sanitation among adolescents while also emphasising the crucial role of men in providing emotional and practical support during menstruation. Students actively engaged with community children and adolescents, educating them about their rights, personal hygiene, safe disposal practices and the importance of breaking taboos surrounding menstruation.

As part of the outreach activity, free sanitary napkins were distributed to women in the community to promote menstrual hygiene management and ensure accessibility. The visit provided a meaningful platform for students to contribute towards promoting health awareness, gender sensitivity and overall well-being.

Principal Prof. Sudha Katyal appreciated the efforts of the Department of Human Development and the Baal Sarthy Club for organising the programme and sensitising the community on such an important aspect of adolescent health and empowerment.
