GHSC-10 Participates in Sardar@150 Unity Walkathon

Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh actively participated in the Sardar@150 Ekta Padyatra organized by the Chandigarh Administration in collaboration with Mera Bharat Kendra to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India and nation builder, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31, 2025.
The state-level Ekta Padyatra began early in the morning from Sukhna Lake and covered an 8-kilometre route passing through Uttar Marg, Jan Marg and Vigyan Marg before culminating back at Sukhna Lake. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from NSS wing of the college which marched in unison to celebrate the ideals of unity, integrity and self-reliance.
The chief guest of the event was Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh. The walkathon aimed to promote the spirit of Ek Bharat, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, highlighting the message of national integration, self-dependence, and pride in India’s unity and diversity.
During the later part of the day the NSS volunteers took an oath during a Pledge taking ceremony to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation. The volunteers further pledged to contribute towards building a healthy and drug-free India and to uphold the values of Swadeshi and Swavalamban envisioned by Sardar Patel.
Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal appreciated the active involvement of NSS Wing and she further encouraged them to carry forward the message of unity, discipline and patriotism in their daily lives.
