GHSC-10 Students  Extend Support at PGIMER Under Government’s Sarthi Project

Under the Government of India’s key initiative, Sarthi Project, NSS volunteers of Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh actively participated in providing help and support to needy patients and their families at PGIMER, Chandigarh from January 20 to February 02, 2026. 

The Sarthi Project aims to offer guidance, emotional support and compassionate assistance to patients and their attendants during their hospital stay. NSS volunteers empathised with families of patients, helped them navigate hospital procedures and extended moral support to those undergoing physical and emotional distress. The initiative helped create a reassuring and humane environment within the hospital premises.

The project reflects the spirit of selfless service by addressing the emotional and practical needs of patients and their families, thereby strengthening people-centric healthcare support.

Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal, appreciated the sincere efforts of the NSS Unit and volunteers and remarked that such government initiatives play a crucial role in instilling values of empathy, compassion and social responsibility among students while providing much-needed support to the needy during challenging times.
