GHSC-10 Students Promote Nutrition and Sustainability through Millet Recipe Demonstration

Government Home Science College, Chandigarh organised an engaging Millet Demonstration at Chaitanya Laboratory Nursery School under the Department of Human Development of the college on September 23, 2025. The initiative aimed to highlight the nutritional benefits and versatility of millets while encouraging their inclusion in everyday diets.
The event featured a live millet recipe demonstration by students wherein the innovative and healthy preparations were showcased. In addition, a millet product exhibition displayed a variety of items including grains, flours, and ready-to-eat snacks, underscoring the wide-ranging applications of this traditional superfood. The program drew enthusiastic participation from students, parents, and senior citizens, who appreciated the effort and expressed keen interest in incorporating millets into their meals. Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many acknowledging the importance of millets in supporting both health and sustainable agriculture.
Principal,Prof. Sudha Katyal, lauded the efforts of the postgraduate students of the Department of Foods and Nutrition for their innovative approach in spreading awareness about indigenous grains and for aligning with the broader national mission of promoting millet consumption for nutrition security and sustainability.
