GHSC-10 Students Shine at National Conference CHASCON 2025, Panjab University, Chandigarh

Students of Government Home Science College, Sector-10,Chandigarh brought laurels to the college by winning the Second prize in Poster Presentation in field of Chemical Sciences and Third prize in the field of Basic Medical Sciences at the   National Conference-CHASCON 2025 held at Panjab University, Chandigarh from 6th - 8th November 2025. 

The second prize winning poster entitled “Quantum Mechanical and Molecular Docking Based Prediction of Neurotoxic Effects of Synthetic Food Preservatives” by Anu of M.Sc. 3rd Semester, highlighted the hazardous impact of preservative-containing packaged food items consumed in daily life. The study provided computational evidence on how synthetic food preservatives may influence neurotransmission, thereby emphasizing the health risks associated with processed foods. Another poster presented by Anupreet, PhD Research Scholar ,who won third prize for her research work entitled, ‘Germination induced biochemical, nutritional and functional changes in oats(Avena sativa),implications for functional food development’ highlighted  natural, low cost and sustainable approach for functional food development. Both the researches were highly appreciated by the judges of the contest. 

Principal Prof. Sudha Katyal appreciated the sincere efforts of the students and their mentors and for their contribution towards promoting awareness about food safety. She further emphasised that such accomplishments reflect the college commitment towards fostering scientific inquiry, innovation and academic excellence among its students.
