GHSC-10 Participates in Awareness Campaign on World TB Day

On the occasion of World TB Day, NSS volunteers of Government Home Science College, Sector-10 actively participated in an awareness programme organized at Sector 17 Plaza, Chandigarh, on March 23, 2026.
The event was conducted by the National Service Scheme in collaboration with the Health Department, Chandigarh.
The programme aimed to spread awareness about tuberculosis (TB) and to encourage community participation in eliminating the disease. A major highlight of the event was an engaging street play (nukkad natak) performed by the volunteers, which effectively showcased the causes, prevention, and treatment of TB in a powerful and relatable manner.
To further strengthen the message, participants took a public pledge to support the fight against TB and promote a healthier society. A march-past was also organized around Sector 17, during which volunteers raised slogans and interacted with the public to spread awareness. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from both students and citizens, making it a meaningful step towards public health awareness. Refreshments were provided to participants, contributing to the smooth and successful conduct of the programme.
Principal Prof. Sudha Katyal appreciated the sincere efforts of the NSS volunteers and emphasized the importance of spreading awareness about communicable diseases like TB. She highlighted that such initiatives play a vital role in educating the community and fostering a sense of social responsibility among students. She encouraged the volunteers to continue their dedicated service towards building a healthier and more aware society.
