GHSC-10 Students leads promoting Healthy tiffin box campaign at colleges of Chandigarh

In a dedicated effort to promote community health and nutritional literacy, the students of Government Home Science College, Sector 10-D, Chandigarh, organized a comprehensive survey and awareness programme at Government Colleges of Sector 10 and 11, on March 13, 2026.
The initiative was spearheaded by final-year students of B.Sc. Home Science (Dietetics) as a core component of their Extension Education activity. The campaign aimed to motivate peers to move towards age old tradition of carrying home cooked healthy meals instead of following trend of ordering outside food regularly.
As key highlights of the Campaign, the students utilized a multi-faceted approach to engage their peers and gather valuable data through Survey where students conducted a detailed primary survey using structured questionnaires to assess the dietary habits and food trends of the college youth.
Through the use of vibrant flash cards,charts and pamphlets, the budding dietitians simplified complex problems into actionable health tips of easy to prepare tiffin recipes.
To ensure the message of "Bring Healthy and Eat Healthy" to resonated with the audience, the team hosted various interactive activities. To foster a healthier future, the campaign focused on the "Promotion of carrying Healthy tiffin boxes," emphasizing the importance of balanced diets in preventing lifestyle diseases. Under the guidance of the subject teacher of Extension Education, the students successfully demonstrated their ability to act as change agents in society.
Prof. Sudha Katyal, Principal of the college, appreciated the efforts of the students for their enthusiastic participation. She lauded their contribution to spreading awareness and encouraged them to continue supporting such impactful initiatives.
