Home Science College Students Conduct Community Outreach at Yuva Stambh Welfare Association

Students of Government Home Science College, Chandigarh, undertook a community outreach visit to Yuva Stambh Welfare Association, Sector 26, Chandigarh, as part of their academic and social responsibility initiative.

During the visit, the students of B.Sc. Home Science Human Development) 5th Semester, engaged socially challenged children in a series of interactive and educational activities. These included storytelling sessions, colouring activities, role play on the theme “Stranger Danger” to promote personal safety awareness, dance performances, and recreational balloon games. The activities aimed to foster creativity, confidence, and emotional expression among the children. The students also interacted with the organization’s management to gain insights into the functioning, support mechanisms, and challenges of the NGO. As a gesture of care and solidarity, refreshments such as chips and jaljeera tetra packs were distributed, along with voluntary donations contributed by the students. The welfare organization appreciated the students’ enthusiasm, compassion, and meaningful engagement with the children.

Principal, Prof. Sudha Katyal, lauded the efforts of the students, emphasizing that such field experiences strengthen the values of empathy, social responsibility, and community involvement. She encouraged students to continue participating in such initiatives that contribute positively to society.
