Home Science Students Visit Vatika Special School, Sector-19, Chandigarh

The students of B.Sc. Home Science (Composite), 5th Semester, visited Vatika Special School, Sector-19B, Chandigarh, on November 10, 2025. The purpose of the visit was to interact with differently-abled children and gain insights into their learning environment and teaching methods.
During the visit, students interacted with around 50 deaf and mute children and were warmly welcomed by the teachers and students of the school. They were introduced to special teaching techniques, including basic sign language, which enabled better communication. Using sign language, the college students introduced themselves to the children, creating a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
To engage the children, the students organized various fun and creative activities such as playing football and teaching them how to make paper boats. The children participated enthusiastically, showcasing their interest, creativity, and joy. Refreshments were also distributed, adding to the cheerful spirit of the day.
The visit proved to be an informative, interactive, and enriching experience. It allowed the students to develop a deeper understanding of the special abilities and challenges faced by differently-abled children, as well as the dedicated efforts of teachers in supporting their growth and learning.
Prof. Sudha Katyal, Principal of the college, appreciated the students’ enthusiasm and encouraged them to continue engaging in such meaningful and socially impactful initiatives.
