Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh, continued its much-anticipated Tex-Style Week with a vibrant and culturally rich Workshop on Phulkari and Bagh, conducted by the college’s distinguished alumna, Ms. Tanisha.
The workshop, exclusively organized for B.Sc. Fashion Designing and B.Sc Home Science 1st and 3rd semester students, focused on reviving and celebrating Punjab’s traditional embroidery arts—Phulkari and Bagh. Ms. Tanisha, drawing upon her extensive professional expertise and creative insight, shared valuable tips and demonstrated intricate hand-embroidery techniques, enabling students to gain first-hand experience of these heritage crafts.
The interactive session not only enhanced students’ technical knowledge but also deepened their appreciation for India’s rich textile traditions. It inspired them to integrate traditional crafts into contemporary design practices, thereby bridging the gap between heritage and modernity.
Prof. Sudha Katyal, Principal of the College, highly appreciated the alumna for her insightful workshop and encouraged students to actively participate in the Tex-Style Week activities. The event further strengthened the college’s commitment to promoting skill-oriented learning and preserving indigenous crafts.
