Week Long Internship and Placement Drive kick-started in Home Science College

A week Long Internship and Placement Drive kick-started in Home Science College from April 7, 2026, engaging students from three major streams-  Nutrition and Dietetics, Fashion Designing and Human Development. The drive witnessed Pre-placement talks and interviews by industry experts, Shepreneurs cum alumni of the college.  More than 150 final year students of  UG and PG classes enthusiastically participated in the drive.
The first two days of the drive witnessed strong participation from leading organizations, creating valuable opportunities for students in diverse roles. Fitwiser and Classic Fitness Academy, represented by Mr. Preet Sandhu, recruited students for the positions of Educators and clinical dietitians. Fitelo, a well-known health consultancy platform,  continued its long-standing association with the college by recruiting students for various roles like clinical nutrition, health consultancy, content creation, food research, and product development for the last eight years consecutively They offered an annual package of  Rs.4.5 lacs onwards to the various students in diverse roles. Further, Dr. Anupreksha Rastogi, founder of Crafting Diets, conducted an insightful pre-placement talk where she introduced students to her internship program focused on Sports nutrition. She highlighted the emerging significance of sports nutrition as a specialized field, creating awareness about its scope, industry relevance, and the need for focused expertise in this domain. Dr Sonia Gandhi, from Fortis Hospital, Mohali, also interviewed students for the posts of clinical dietitian in hospital. Healthifyme, an on line diet consultancy company , also offered the roles of dieticians to the students at annual package of Rs 4 lacs.
Day three and four of placement drive  saw an active participation of reputed organizations for the students of Clothing and textiles. This included IIFA (Indian Institute of Fashion Art) and Noorah Ethnics, both based in Ambala, along with Albazir group of Industries, creating a dynamic platform for student engagement with the fashion and textile industry. Albasir industries shortlisted 6 candidates for the final round of interviews. Earlier two students have been working with Albasir industries as Fashion Merchandisers at annual package of 3 lacs. Meenabazar, a reputed clothing brand and retail store approached the campus for hiring the students in the job role of Merchandiser and designer for its new outlet Aliyana in Chandigarh. Fabbat, a boutique run by college Alumni offered internship stipend of Rs 2 lacs per annum in the role of fashion designers.
Last three days of placement drive brings strong industry Interface from recruiting agencies for the students of Human Development, including SCERT (Sector-32, Chandigarh), Aadi Counselling Centre, Open Eyes, Sifaaz foundation, Bachpan NGO, Women Cell, UT ,Chandigarh, Arya Hospital, Crayons Wellness Clinic, Panchkula, and Veda Toddlers, kindergarten school, Mohali. A special highlight of the drive was preplacement talk and an inspiring session by Drishti Chugh, Shepreneur & Centre Director at Veda Toddlers and alumni of the college, parenting coach, and mental health professional with rich experience in early childhood education and emotional wellbeing. During her interaction, she sensitized students through her entrepreneurial journey that she started by opening a Mental health café named Mindful Sips in Mohali, emphasizing the importance of courage, resilience, and identifying opportunities amidst challenges.
The event reflected the college’s continued commitment to fostering holistic development and creating meaningful career opportunities for its students.  100% of students were offered internships in reputed organizations, and various students received on-the-spot job offers, with commendable salary packages Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal, applauded the IEP Cell for their efforts and encouraged students to participate in such meaningful career-building initiatives.
