College organised an Awareness Talk on ‘Causes and Impact of Drug Use Among Youth’

NSS Wing of Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh organised an awareness talk on the occasion of 'World No Tobacco Day' on 21 May, 2022 in the hostel premises of the college. The resource person,Dr.Shikha Garg, Assistant Professor from the department of HDFR, spoke on the theme, 'Tobacco:Threat to Our Environment'. Furhtermore, she highlighted the problem of tobacco and drug abuse among adolescents and young adults and its impact on their holistic development. She also made the audience aware regarding various reasons for using tobacco and drugs which includes lack of awareness, curiosity, peer pressure, stress, emotional struggles. The session concluded with a Pledge on ‘Say No to Tobacco’. Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal urged students to stay away from tobacco/drugs as this is the time when they should focus on academics and pursue hobbies of their choice for their mental & physical well-being.
