Creativity, Innovation and Sustainability showcased at Diwali Mela in Home Science College 18.10.22

In sync with the theme of Atam Nirbhar Bharat, Home Science College organized a Diwali Mela today at the campus. The Mela provided a platform to students to showcase their creativity and talent. It was an opportunity to help them explore their entrepreneurial skills. Mr Himanshu, Manager, SIDBI, Mr. Amit Maurya, Manager SIDBI and Ms. Sunita from SIDBI were special Guests to grace the occasion. Various other dignitaries from SBI and Singer Machines India , also visited the mela.This mela promoted the use of sustainable products like Dupattas dyed with waste flowers from temple and use of organic colours like beetroot and turmeric in tie and dye utility products, Tote bags and purses made from used jeans. A stall displaying Ganpati jis, Torans and Floaters, decorative Diya’s , jute bags and wall hangings in vibrant colors created festive fervour and mood among all. There were around 30 stalls with various products ranging from home cooked eatables like Pav Bhaji, Pani Poori, choclate shakes, and other snacks to various innovative products like raisin art jewellery, ornaments such as earrings, neckpieces, rings along with hand-painted T-shirts, Gift boxes and stylish bags.

The centre of attraction was the stall displaying handmade candles and home decor made by the specially abled children and sold by the college students to help them and do their bit for a noble cause. Students from Ladakh sold special handmade momos and witnessed brisk sales. A great response was received from all the stalls as they experienced huge sales and most of their items were sold out. Principal, Prof. Sudha Katyal appreciated the efforts put in by the staff of placement and entrepreneurship development cell and students. She motivated them to keep up the good work and work towards to Earn while they Learn.
