Diwali Mela organised with Fun and Fervour in Home Science College 07.11.23

The College organized a vibrant Diwali mela on November 7, 2023. Students took the initiative to set up stalls on the college, campus offering an array of attractively crafted goods that ranged from festive décor to mouth-watering food recipes. The students showcased their creativity and expertise by presenting an impressive collection of self-made products. The event also witnessed millet fest by the students to create awareness about intake of millets in routine diet which included demonstration and selling of millet-based recipes, gluten-free cakes, delightful desserts ragi bhel and millet golgappas. Other attractions of the mela included colourful diyas, scented candles, crochet accessories, mandala art, paintings, hair braiding, temporary tattoos, mehndi art, handmade shagun covers, wall hangings, and a variety of snacks. Some students even engaged in reselling products such as toys, lassi drinks, and plants, enhancing the diversity of items available.
The day saw the enthusiastic participation of students from Ryan International School in Chandigarh, who were invited to join the festivities. Their active engagement in selecting and purchasing items from the displayed stalls added to the vibrant atmosphere. By the end of the day, several stalls reported decent profits, marking the success of the event. Principal Prof Sudha Katyal expressed her delight at the widespread participation of every college member. She underscored the significance of such activities in fostering teamwork, nurturing team spirit, and promoting innovation among the students. She emphasized the institution's commitment to holistic development and encouragement of innovation among its student body.
