Free Health Mela at Home Science College

Government Home Science College, Chandigarh successfully organized a Health Mela, providing a platform for free health check-ups and expert consultations to students, staff, and the local community. The event was conducted with the help and support of Apollo Clinic Sector-8, Chandigarh. Free health check-ups, including blood pressure, blood sugar, and BMI assessments, were conducted free of cost for all the employees as well as students.The event, aimed at promoting holistic well-being, brought together a team of healthcare experts, including Dr. Vibha Sharma, Gynae Consultant, Dr. Palak, Physician, and Dr. Mishika, Dietitian from Apollo Clinic. The Health Mela, a part of ongoing Poshan Maah celebrations, offered attendees an opportunity to receive personalized medical advice on various health concerns.
The healthcare team provided valuable guidance on maintaining overall health, addressing women's health issues, and discussing preventive care measures. Dr. Mishika, the dietitian, offered free diet counseling, emphasizing the importance of balanced nutrition, personalized diet plans, and healthy lifestyle choices. The event witnessed a huge footfall of more than 130 visitors and positive feedback from the community. Prof. Sudha Katyal, Principal of the college, appreciated the healthcare team for their valuable contributions. She encouraged attendees to incorporate the advice given by the health experts into their daily lives. She also emphasized that college consistently make efforts to improve the public health through multifarious initiatives and outreach programs.
