FRM Dept organizes an Educational Visit to PEDA

The department of Family Resource Management organized an educational visit to Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) for its B.Sc. H.Sc. students on 23rd January, 2018. This visit was to introduce the students to the concept of sustainable buildings and their energy efficient features. The PEDA building is a solar passive architecture which is given 5 star rating by BEE. It uses non-conventional resources of energy such as a solar photovoltaic panel is installed on its rooftop and produces 25kW of energy. The other educative features like light vaults, Unique shell roofing on central atrium, cavity walls, unique floating slab systems, landscape horticulture were the new sustainable concepts for all the students. The students were sensitized and felt motivated to use energy efficient measures in their daily life at home and college. Their queries regarding the topic were satisfactorily answered by the concerned official and they also enjoyed the refreshments given by PEDA department. this visit as they got to know about how we can incorporate non-conventional sources of energy in our daily life.
