Date: 11 September, 2026
Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh, organised a Poster Making Activity as part of Poshan Maah 2026, centred around the theme “Humari Aanganwadi, Humari Zimmedari” on September 11, 2026. The activity was organised to create awareness among students about the importance of community participation in strengthening Anganwadi services and promoting holistic development of young children. The activity also focused on highlighting the role of nutrition and early stimulation in child development, with NSS Volunteers creatively portraying how adequate nutrition, responsive caregiving, play-based learning and age-appropriate stimulation during the early years contribute significantly to a child's physical, cognitive, language, social and emotional development. NSS Volunteers showcased their creativity and understanding of the theme through colourful and informative posters. Their artwork beautifully depicted the importance of Aanganwadis as centres for nutrition, health, early childhood care and education, while emphasising that ensuring the well-being and development of every child is a shared responsibility of families, communities and society.
The activity also sensitised students to the significance of the first six years of life, a critical period for laying the foundation for lifelong learning, health and well-being. The posters conveyed the message that proper nutrition alone is not sufficient; children also require love, interaction, play, communication and early stimulation for their overall development.Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal appreciated the efforts of the NSS Volunteers and encouraged students to actively participate in community-oriented initiatives. She emphasised that awareness regarding nutrition, early childhood care and stimulation can contribute significantly towards building a healthier and more developed generation. The programme reflected the college's continued commitment towards nutrition awareness, early childhood development, community engagement and the objectives of Poshan Maah 2026.
