GHSC-10 Conducted Awareness Regarding SIR Process and Help Desk Facilities

The NSS Cell and Electoral Literacy Club of Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh organized an awareness programme on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process and the help desk facilities available in the college on June 05, 2026. The objective of the programme was to create awareness among students about the importance of electoral participation and to familiarize them with the procedures related to voter registration and verification.

During the programme, students were informed about the significance of maintaining an accurate and updated electoral roll. Detailed information was provided regarding the SIR process, including enrolment of new voters, correction of entries in voter records, change of address and deletion of duplicate entries. The volunteers explained the eligibility criteria for voter registration and guided students on the documents required for various electoral services.

A special help desk was set up to assist students in resolving their queries related to voter registration, electoral roll verification, and online application procedures. Students were encouraged to check their names in the electoral roll and ensure that their details were accurate. The volunteers also demonstrated the use of digital platforms and voter service portals that facilitate easy access to electoral services.

The Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal, applauded the efforts of the NSS Cell and the Electoral Literacy Club for organizing the awareness programme. She emphasized that educational institutions play a vital role in nurturing informed, responsible and active citizens. She encouraged students to remain aware of electoral processes and contribute positively to the democratic framework of the nation through informed participation in elections.
