GHSC-10 Organised Expert Talk and Interactive Session on “Low Oil Diets and Healthy Eating” under Poshan Pakhwada Celebrations

Government Home Science College, Chandigarh organized an Expert Talk and Interactive Session on “Low Oil Diets and Healthy Eating” in collaboration with the Department of Dietetics, Fortis Hospital, Mohali, as part of the ongoing Poshan Pakhwada celebrations on April 08, 2025.The session aimed to raise awareness about the health risks associated with excessive oil consumption and to promote practical approaches for adopting low-oil, balanced diets. It brought together undergraduate and post graduate students, research scholars and faculty to engage in meaningful dialogue about sustainable and healthy eating habits. The keynote address was delivered by Dt. Sonia Gandhi, Head of the Dietetics Department at Fortis Hospital, Mohali. A renowned clinical dietitian with over two decades of experience, she shared expert insights on the benefits of low-oil diets, common myths around fat consumption, and strategies for healthy cooking without compromising on taste and nutrition. Her talk was followed by an engaging interactive session, where participants had the opportunity to clarify their doubts and discuss practical dietary concerns.Prof. Sudha Katyal, Principal of the college, applauded the efforts of the Department of Foods and Nutrition. She further emphasised that such awareness programs are crucial for instilling lifelong healthy habits, especially among the youth.
