GHSC-10 Organised Multifarious Events on Third Day of Tex-Style WeekÂ

Multifarious events were organised in Government Home Science College to celebrate the third day of Tex Style Week. An exhibition showcasing the rich textile heritage of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, a peer learning workshop on Pakhi making, and a Pidilite workshop focused on designing cushion covers and canvas shoes were conducted.The visual feast that celebrated the intricate artistry of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh was the exhibition displayed in Heritage Resource Centre and Swavalamban Window. The display was accompanied by informative descriptions that provided insights into the techniques and history behind the textiles. Further more, a peer learning workshop on Pakhi making offered students with an opportunity to delve into this traditional art form. It was led by Ms. Babli, student of M.Sc. (Clothing and Textiles) which enabled students to gain hands-on experience and refine their techniques in Pakhi making.
The day’s activities also included a Pidilite workshop, wherein students learnt the art of designing cushion covers and canvas shoes. This workshop emphasized the fusion of traditional patterns with contemporary design elements, encouraging students to explore their creativity while applying practical design skills.Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal appreciated the efforts of the students and staff in organising an array of events. She also insisted that college makes all the efforts to provide platform through such workshops to its students so as to hone their skills in traditional crafts and modern design thereby fostering a deeper appreciation for the art of textiles amongst them.
