GHSC-10 Organises Exhibition of Stimulating Activities During Poshan Maah Celebrations 2026

As part of the Poshan Maah Celebrations 2026, an exhibition showcasing innovative and stimulating learning activities for young children was organised at Chaitanya Laboratory Nursery School under the aegis of Department of Human Development, Government Home Science College, Chandigarh on September 16, 2026. The exhibition was organised in alignment with this year’s theme, “Humari Aanganwadi, Humari Zimmedari,” highlighting the collective responsibility of families, educators and the community towards the nutrition, care, early learning and holistic development of young children.
The exhibition aimed to sensitise students and visitors towards the significance of Aanganwadi and early childhood care and education centres as important spaces for nurturing children during the foundational years. It also emphasised that adequate nutrition, responsive caregiving, early stimulation and opportunities for play and learning together contribute significantly to a child’s overall development.
Postgraduate students of the Department of Human Development took the initiative to design and prepare a wide range of creative and developmentally appropriate resource materials using waste and discarded materials. Various indoor and outdoor play and stimulating equipment were also developed by the students, demonstrating how easily available and low-cost materials can be transformed into meaningful learning resources for children.The exhibits were designed to promote different areas of development, including cognitive, language, motor, social, emotional and creative development.
Through play-based and stimulating activities, children can be encouraged to explore their surroundings, develop problem-solving abilities, strengthen motor skills and build communication and social interaction skills. The initiative also conveyed the message that every adult has a role in creating a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment for young children.The exhibition further promoted the idea of “waste to resource”, demonstrating how creativity and innovation can be used to prepare economical, sustainable and child-friendly teaching-learning materials. The activity provided postgraduate students with valuable hands-on experience in applying their theoretical knowledge of child development to the preparation of practical resources for young children.
Prof. Sudha Katyal, Principal of the college, applauded the efforts of the Department of Human Development and the postgraduate students for organising the exhibition. She emphasised the importance of conducting such innovative, experiential and awareness-oriented activities, which not only enhance students’ practical skills but also reinforce the collective responsibility towards ensuring the nutrition, care, stimulation and holistic development of every child. The exhibition successfully conveyed the spirit of “Humari Aanganwadi, Humari Zimmedari” by showcasing how educational institutions, students, teachers, parents and the wider community can contribute towards strengthening early childhood care, learning and development.
