GHSC-10 Organises ‘Fashion Rush: The Hurdle Challenge’ During Tex-Style Week Celebrations

Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh organised an exciting and innovative competition, “Fashion Rush: The Hurdle Challenge,” as part of the 4th day of the Tex-Style Week celebrations. The unique event blended fashion and textile skills with speed, precision, coordination and teamwork, providing students with an engaging platform to demonstrate their practical knowledge and creativity in a fun-filled competitive environment.The competition was designed as a lively fashion relay, wherein teams navigated through a series of carefully planned fashion-related challenges. Participants were required to perform a variety of practical tasks, including threading a needle, buttoning a shirt, handling and folding a cotton dupatta and tying shoelaces. Each team member completed an assigned task before passing the challenge to the next participant, testing their dexterity, concentration, time management, coordination and team spirit.

The energetic participation of the students transformed the activity into an enjoyable and vibrant learning experience. The competition not only highlighted the importance of basic clothing and textile skills but also demonstrated how practical learning can be made interactive, experiential and enjoyable.Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal appreciated the enthusiasm and active participation of the students. She encouraged them to continue developing their creative abilities, practical skills and confidence, emphasising that such innovative activities provide valuable opportunities for experiential learning and overall personality development.The event successfully added an element of fun, skill and healthy competition to the Tex-Style Week celebrations, leaving the participants with an enriching and memorable experience.
