GHSC-10 Organises Fun Psychological Activity to Promote Mental Health Awareness

Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh, organised a fun and engaging psychological activity for students on September 09, 2026, as part of its continued efforts to promote mental health awareness, self-acceptance and emotional well-being among students. The initiative was undertaken in compliance with the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India Order dated January 15, 2026, in the matter of Amit Kumar & Ors. vs. Union of India & Ors.The activity was designed to provide students with an interactive and meaningful experience through which they could reflect upon their emotions, recognise their inner strengths and develop a positive attitude towards themselves. Students were encouraged to hold hands together, symbolising connection, support and togetherness, while reflecting on their inner potential and the importance of accepting themselves with compassion.
The activity highlighted the significance of self-acceptance, emotional resilience, positive relationships and mutual support in maintaining good mental health. It encouraged students to acknowledge their strengths, cope positively with challenges and understand that seeking emotional support and building healthy relationships are important components of overall well-being.The activity created an enthusiastic and positive environment, with active participation from the students. It also reinforced the message that mental health is an integral part of holistic development and deserves the same attention and care as physical health.Principal Prof. Sudha Katyal appreciated the initiative and emphasised that mental well-being is essential for the holistic development of students. She further highlighted that educational institutions have an important role in creating a supportive and empathetic environment where students feel valued, accepted and empowered to deal with emotional challenges in a healthy manner.
