GHSC-10 Organises Screening of Movie to Promote Mental Health  Awareness and Emotional Wellbeing

In compliance with the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India Order dated 15 January 2026 in the matter of Amit Kumar & Ors. vs. Union of India & Ors., Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh, organised a screening of the Hindi film ‘Dear Zindagi’ for students as part of its initiatives to promote mental health awareness and emotional well-being on August 19, 2026. The film was screened to encourage students to reflect on the importance of mental health, self-acceptance, emotional resilience and seeking support during challenging times. Through its relatable portrayal of stress, relationships, personal struggles and the importance of professional help, the screening provided an engaging platform for students to understand that mental well-being is an integral part of overall health.The students watched the film with great interest and actively reflected on its key messages related to overcoming emotional challenges, maintaining a positive outlook and prioritising one’s mental well-being. The activity helped create awareness about the importance of open conversations around mental health and reducing the stigma associated with seeking help.

Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal appreciated the initiative and emphasised that mental well-being is essential for the holistic development of students. She encouraged students to prioritise their emotional health, communicate openly about their concerns and seek timely support whenever needed. She further highlighted that such initiatives play an important role in creating a supportive, empathetic and mentally healthy campus environment.
