GHSC-10 Organises Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Training Programme

A one-day training programme on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was organised on 30 May 2026 at Government Home Science College, Chandigarh under the theme, “Inclusive elections begin with every eligible voter.”

The programme aimed to enhance awareness among participants regarding various aspects of the electoral registration process. Participants were sensitised about major phases of SIR which includes details regarding important dates and timelines related to SIR, procedures and processes involved in SIR voter registration, self-enumeration, draft roll awareness, statutory forms, progeny verification and the use of digital platforms for electoral roll verification. Detailed information was also provided about BLO-Citizen Interaction along with awareness regarding 1950 Helpline and the “Just Dial a BLO” facility, enabling citizens to access electoral services more effectively.

The Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal, appreciated the efforts of the NSS Wing and the Electoral Literacy Club in promoting electoral awareness and sensitising staff members about their role in ensuring accurate and inclusive voter registration. She further emphasised the importance of such initiatives in strengthening democratic participation and ensuring that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral process.
