GHSC-10 Organises Workshop on Awareness and Prevention of Sexual Abuse

Government Home Science College, Chandigarh in collaboration with Bachpan Save the Innocence, NGO conducted a workshop on "Awareness and Prevention of Sexual Abuse" on May 17-18, 2024 at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector-35, Chandigarh. The workshop aimed to educate and empower students of Class 3rd , faculty, and staff with knowledge about identifying, addressing, and preventing sexual abuse in educational abd social settings. The workshop covered various topics such as importance of creating a safe and supportive environment for children, recognising signs of sexual abuse, significance of consent and boundaries and awareness regarding prevention strategies and support systems. 
The workshop also included real-life case studies, role-plays, and an open Q&A session, encouraging active participation from the participants. 

Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal emphasised that awareness is the first step towards prevention. The college aims to equip its stakeholders with the knowledge and tools to combat abuse and create a safer society.  She further reiterated commitment of college towards organizing more such initiatives to raise awareness and promote social responsibility among its stakeholders.
