GHSC-10 Organizes Visits to Kartar Aasra Old Age Home & Senior Citizens Home to Promote Intergenerational Bonding

Government Home Science College, Chandigarh, organized a heartfelt visits to Kartar Aasra Old Age & Orphanage Home, Kartar Aasra Road, Near Lake Club, Sukhna Lake, Sector 1, Chandigarh and Senior Citizens Home, Sector-15, Chandigarh respectively, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote social responsibility and emotional well-being on January 31, 2025 and January 24, 2025. Students from the Department of Human Development actively participated in the visit, engaging with the elderly residents through meaningful conversations and interactive activities. To create a warm and joyful atmosphere, the students organized various recreational sessions, including storytelling, music, and light games, fostering a sense of companionship and emotional support. They also took the opportunity to listen to the life experiences and wisdom shared by the elderly, strengthening the bond between generations.The visit not only provided emotional enrichment for the senior residents but also offered students a valuable learning experience, helping them develop empathy, patience, and a deeper understanding of the psychological and social aspects of aging.Principal Prof. Sudha Katyal applauded the department’s efforts, emphasizing the significance of such initiatives in fostering compassion and sensitivity among young individuals. She encouraged students to continue engaging in community outreach programs that contribute to societal well-being and holistic learning.
