GHSC-10 Participated in Launching of Community-Driven Awareness Programme “Nashe ko Inkaar, Ujwaal Bhavishya ko Kaare Swikaar”

NSS Volunteers of Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh, actively participated in the Launching of Community-Driven Awareness Programme “Nashe ko Inkaar, Ujwaal Bhavishya ko Kaare Swikaar” organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, at Plaza, Sector-17, Chandigarh on September 10,2026. The programme was conducted by Chandigarh Administration, Chandigarh in collaboration with Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh. The programme aimed to create mass awareness among youth and students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and addiction, promote a drug-free lifestyle by instilling values of discipline, responsibility and healthy living, mobilize NSS Volunteers, educational institutions, and community organizations to act as ambassadors of the campaign.
The programme was graced by Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, as the Chief Guest. In his address, he encouraged the youth to remain steadfast in their resolve against substance abuse. The event also featured Mr.Mandip Singh Brar, Home Secretary, Chandigarh and Sh. Saurabh Joshi, Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh who emphasised upon the youth of the nation to lead a mass movement against drug addiction and become ambassadors of a healthy, responsible and empowered citizens. Principal of the College, Prof. Sudha Katyal, appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students and underscored the importance of sustained awareness and preventive efforts in combating the menace of drug abuse. She emphasised that the youth have a pivotal role in building a healthy, progressive and drug-free nation, and encouraged NSS Volunteers and students to become catalysts for positive change in society through active community engagement and responsible citizenship.
