GHSC-10 Principal Attended Workshop on Anti-Drug Awareness & Prevention

Principal Prof. Sudha Katyal and Dr. Neha Sharma, Nodal Officer, VADA Club,  attended a one day workshop on Anti-Drug Awareness & Prevention at Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-42, Chandigarh on May 30, 2025. The workshop was organised by the NCC Group Chandigarh in collaboration with the Education Department, Chandigarh Administration the workshop aimed to equip Principals and teachers from various colleges with the knowledge and tools to combat drug abuse among students. The workshop was presided over by Ms Prerna Puri, Education Secretary and Sh. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director, Higher Education from Chandigarh Administration, Major General Jagdeep Singh Cheema, ADG     NCC, Mr. Suresh Mankotia, Ex Head from Narcotics Control Bureau, Dr. Harpreet Singh Dhillon, PGI, Chandigarh, Dr. Aradhana Malik, Associate Professor, IIT Kharagpur, Mr.Vijay Kumar, Director,  Gunjan  Organisation for Community Development, Mr. Sachin Sharma, Narcotics Anonymous, Ms. Prabhjit Kaur, Nodal Officer, Deptt. of Social Welfare, Chandigarh Administrative, Mr. Sandeep Parmar, Executive Director, Gunjan Organisation.  The event began with opening remarks by ADG NCC, followed by a keynote address from the Chief Secretary, UT, emphasizing the role of educational institutions in drug prevention. Key sessions included insights on the legal perspective and NDPS Act by Mr. Suresh Mankotia, the medical and psychological impact of drug addiction by Dr. Harpreet Singh Dhillon, and strategies to help students cope with peer pressure by Dr. Aradhna Malik. A real-life testimony by Mr. Sachin Sharma from Narcotics Anonymous provided a powerful perspective on recovery, while Ms. Prabhjot Kaur from the Department of Social Welfare highlighted the role of civil administration in supporting anti-drug efforts. 

The workshop concluded with an open house discussion led by Mr. Sandeep Parmar, encouraging experience-sharing and policy suggestions, followed by closing remarks from Gp Cdr NCC. The workshop successfully highlighted the importance of collective action and institutional responsibility in creating drug-free educational environments.
