GHSC-10 Students Participated in ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’

Students of Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh, actively participated in the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’, organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh on August 2, 2026. The campaign aimed to inspire young people to pledge their commitment towards building a drug-free and developed India through awareness, community participation and responsible citizenship.The inaugural programme was graced by Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, as the Chief Guest. In his address, he encouraged the youth to remain steadfast in their resolve against substance abuse and to become active partners in realising the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. The event also featured the virtual inaugural address of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who called upon the youth of the nation to lead a mass movement against drug addiction and become ambassadors of a healthy, responsible and empowered India.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students, members of the Victory Against Drug Abuse (VADA) Club and NSS volunteers of the College. The participants collectively took the Nasha Mukti Pledge reaffirming their commitment to spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and contributing towards the creation of a healthy, drug-free society.Principal of the College, Prof. Sudha Katyal, appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students and underscored the importance of sustained awareness and preventive efforts in combating the menace of drug abuse. She emphasised that the youth have a pivotal role in building a healthy, progressive and drug-free nation, and encouraged students to become catalysts for positive change in society through active community engagement and responsible citizenship.
