Government Home Science College 53rd Annual Athletic Meet

Government Home Science College Sector-10 Chandigarh celebrated its 53rd Annual Athletic Meet with great zeal and fervor. The sporting event was inaugurated by Dr. Sudha Katyal, Principal of the College, followed by the unfurling of the college flag and oath taking ceremony. The event began with the marching of coordinated footsteps of students in the parade led by the sports captain Sarmishtha Sharma. The lighting of the Presidency Torch was carried by sports stars of the college, Anjuman Brar, Jaganjot Kaur, Kanika Lubana, Suraksha Narang and Tanishqa of B.Sc. 2nd and 4th semester. The day was filled with fervor and excitement experienced amidst thrills, shrills and cheers. Mrs.Amrit Brar, IPS, AIG (Crime), Punjab Police, was the chief guest for the day. Dr. Sudha Katyal introduced the chief guest and florally welcomed her. 

Students, teaching and non- teaching staff enthusiastically participated in various events like three legged race, long jump, discus throw, sac race, chati race and other track activities. The most enthralling event was the tug of war among the faculty members. All impressive performances by the students kept the audience enthralled. The chief guest congratulated the prize winners and motivated the students to come forward and participate in sports so as to keep physical side in concord with the psychological health. The principal, Dr. Sudha Katyal expressed her gratitude to all the teachers for their cooperation and support and advised students to keep up their sportsman spirit. The function concluded with the flag retreat ceremony and giving away of vote of thanks by Dr. Ravneet Chawla, the Sports Incharge.
