Healthy Tiffin, Healthy Generation: GHSC-10 Champions Nutritious Eating during Poshan Maah

Government Home Science College, Chandigarh, reaffirmed its commitment to promoting healthy eating and nutrition awareness among youth by organising a Healthy Tiffin Competition as part of the ongoing Poshan Maah celebrations on September 23, 2026. The initiative focused on encouraging students to make informed and healthier food choices by showcasing nutritious, balanced, diverse and appealing meal options that can be easily incorporated into everyday diets.Students from B.Sc. Home Science Semesters I, III and V and M.Sc. Foods and Nutrition participated enthusiastically in the competition. The participants thoughtfully planned, prepared and presented healthy tiffin options, showcasing their creativity and understanding of balanced meal planning, appropriate food combinations and the use of nutrient-rich ingredients. The activity provided students with a meaningful opportunity to translate their classroom knowledge of nutrition into practical application while fostering healthy eating habits. The competition also highlighted the importance of making nutritious food attractive, convenient and enjoyable, demonstrating that healthy meals can be both wholesome and appealing.
Principal of the College, Prof. Sudha Katyal, congratulated the participating students for their enthusiastic participation and creative efforts. She emphasised that nutrition education becomes more meaningful when classroom knowledge is translated into practical, everyday choices. She further highlighted that healthy food habits developed during the formative years can contribute significantly to lifelong well-being and encouraged students to become responsible ambassadors of nutrition by making balanced, diverse and wholesome food choices and inspiring their families and communities to embrace healthier lifestyles.
