Investiture Ceremony of Students' Council

The Government Home Science College hosted Investiture ceremony of Student Council September 27, 2017. The day began with great enthusiasm among the newly elected young leaders who pledged to serve the college for the ongoing session of 2017-18.
Mr. Vivek Atray motivated the newly elected committee with his words of inspiration. He initiated his talk about the various life skills that one can inculcate in one's life effectively. He emphasized on living in the present moment, keep in mind a bigger picture of life, think positive, bounce back at the time of odds and adversaries and always be thankful to all. All this, according to him, must be communicated too, and for this, communication skills must be mastered. He also made the audience aware of the importance of fitness and following a regime for it. The outstanding orator also spoke to the student leaders suggesting them to adopt people's skills to be able to deal with people and their problems in a right manner. He stressed on various emotionally intelligent leadership qualities such as being decisive, positive, calm, balanced, receptive and being a people's person.
The Principal of the college, Prof Sudha Katyal welcomed the Chief Guest of the day, Mr. Vivek Atray, a Former Civil Servant of a high repute, a well acclaimed author, an outstanding orator. She congratulated the council and spoke about qualities of a good leader. She applauded them for their desire to serve the college and their fellow classmates. She also suggested them to stay humble and grounded and be a true leader who can inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more. At the end, she also expressed heartfelt thanks to the previous council for lending unrelenting support during various college functions and events. In addition to that, she also highlighted that one should be expressive and communicative in order to let out ones worries and concerns. The programme ended with giving away the prizes to the winners of Panjab University Youth and Heritage Festival, 2017-18 followed by thanks giving speech by the student council President Geetanjali.
The Incharge of the Students Council, Prof. Reetinder Brar, thanked the guest and assured the students to inculcate all that was expected of them.
