Nutrition Week Kickstarted in Government Homescience College

The 'Ginger Club' of Department of Foods and Nutrition, Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh in collaboration with Indian Dietetic Association (IDA) Chandigarh Chapter inaugurated National Nutrition week today. The theme of National Nutrition week is "Optimal Infant and Young Children Feeding Practices: Better Child Health".

To mark the inauguration of Nutrition week, a cookery competition on the theme "Innovative Nutritious Tiffins for Pre-Schoolers" was held wherein 75 students participated including participants from GCG-42, MCM-DAV, Dietetics Department of GMCH-32 and GMSH-16, host college and other institutes.

The recipes for cookery competition were judged by Prof.Sudha Katyal, Principal, Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh, Ms. Jatinder Sohi, HOD and Ms. Madhu Sharma, President, Indian Dietetic Association, Chandigarh Chapter. The recipes were judged for innovation and relevance to the theme amongst other parameters.

Following were the winners for cookery competition: First prize- Tanya Jain & Paridhi Kohli
Second prize- Muskan
Third prize- Mary
Consolation prize- Alisha & Ambika Sharma 

Winners for Poster making: First prize- Akanksha
Second prize -Saloni

Students also participated in skit, slogan writing and poster presentation. An interactive workshop on Skill development, conducted by Wellness and Beauty expert Ms. Richa Sharma, Proprietor, Cleopatra was appreciated by the participants.

The judges applauded the efforts of participants and entire faculty of Foods and Nutrition department and congratulated the coordinators of entire events, Dr. Nirupa Marwaha, HOD Foods and Nutrition Department and Dr. Ritu Pradhan, Associate Professor and Project coordinator.
