One-Week Online Yoga Session Commences at GHSC-10

As a prelude to the forthcoming International Day of Yoga, celebrated annually on June 21, a One-Week Online Yoga Session commenced at Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh, on June 16, 2026. The programme is being organized in collaboration with the Government College of Yoga, Education and Health, Chandigarh under the dynamic leadership and guidance of Principal Prof. Sudha Katyal. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers and NCC cadets.The theme of the session, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” focused on promoting physical, mental and emotional well-being through the practice of yoga. The session highlighted the numerous benefits of yogic practices and their positive impact on overall health and quality of life.
The resource person for the session, Ms. Sarika Rajput, from Government College of Yoga Education and Health, conducted an engaging and informative demonstration of various yogic asanas, including Tadasana, Paschimottanasana and Setu Bandhasana. She also guided the participants through important pranayama techniques such as Bhramari, Anulom Vilom, and Kapalbhati, while explaining their therapeutic and health-promoting benefits. The participants actively performed the asanas and breathing exercises, creating an atmosphere of positivity, rejuvenation and mindfulness.
Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal, appreciated the efforts of the organizing team for successfully conducting the programme during the summer vacation despite the prevailing heatwave conditions. She encouraged the students to participate wholeheartedly in the week-long session to enhance their physical fitness, mental resilience and emotional well-being. She further emphasized that regular yoga practice plays a significant role in reducing stress, anxiety and depression, while fostering a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
The session concluded on an inspiring note, motivating participants to embrace yoga as an integral part of their daily routine for achieving holistic health and well-being.
