SENSITIZATION ON IMPORTANCE & APPLICATIONS OF POCSO ACT AT HOME SCIENCE COLLEGE

As a  part of the ongoing Self Defence Training Camp at Home Science College, students were sensitized on the POCSO Act and it's benefits and applications. The Act is a comprehensive law enacted with the objective of protecting children from a slew of sexual offences like sexual assault, sexual harassment and pornography while safeguarding the interests of the child at every stage of the judicial process by introducing a child-friendly mechanism for reporting and recording.

SHO Usha Rani was the resource person from Women/Child Support Unit, Sector-17

, Chandigarh along with Head constable Sanjay, Lady constable Pinky and

Lady constable Ranjana. It was a very insightful session attended by 100 NSS & NCC Cadets.

Principal of the college, Prof Sudha Katyal urged the students to be aware of the various laws governing sexual harassment in children to ensure their safety.
