Series of Awareness Sessions at GHSC-10

On second day of the ongoing Special Seven Day NSS Camp, an ‘Interactive Awareness Session on First Aid & Blood Donation’ was conducted to enhance community health and safety. The resource person was Sh. Sushil Taank, State Training Supervisor, Indian Red Cross Society, U.T., Chandigarh. Sh. Sushil emphasised on essential first aid techniques and the life-saving importance of blood donation. Volunteers gained practical skills to respond effectively in emergencies, along with understanding the critical need for blood donations in our community.The second session of the day was organized to address the pivotal subject of gender sensitization. Ms Madhu P. Singh, Former President, District Consumer Commission, Mohali was the resource person. She is also currently serving as a Practising Advocate & Arbitrator at Punjab & Haryana High Court, Chandigarh and a Proud Alumna of our college. Ms. Singh renowned for her extensive experience in raising awareness about gender-related issues gave an informative, thought-provoking, and empowering session. The session's primary objective was to deepen the volunteers' comprehension of gender sensitization, dispel prevalent myths, and emphasize the critical role of gender sensitivity within our society. During the second half of the day, an awareness session was conducted on Financial Literacy. Mr Ravi, Assistant General Manager, Canara Bank, Regional Office, Sector-34, Chandigarh and Mr. Kumar, Chief Manager, Canara Bank, Sector-17, Chandigarh were the resource persons.
The resource persons highlighted about the significance of the financial discipline from an early age. They further advised the volunteers to make right decisions about their money matters and encouraged them to open their account and get lifetime financial benefits. In the concluding part of the day, the volunteers were oriented about having a Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) account. Volunteers registered themselves on account and further guided everyone around them for the same.Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal applauded the volunteers for their active participation in the sessions and encouraged them to keep up the spirits for the upcoming events as well.
