Tex-Style Week Celebrations with a Showcase of Innovation, Creativity, and Sustainability at Home Science College

The Clothing and Textiles Department hosted a successful exhibition as part of the Tex-Style Week celebration, where students showcased their remarkable range of innovative and sustainable products. This event highlighted the college's commitment to fostering creativity and promoting sustainability in every field.The exhibition featured a variety of student-made products, including sustainable denim bags, hand-painted bags, and clay jewellery, as well as hand-painted folders that displayed the students' exceptional painting skills. One of the key takeaways from the event was the students' powerful message on sustainability in fashion, communicated through engaging and creative video reels focusing on refurbishing their post consumed textile waste into new and creative items.
Aspiring designers from the department demonstrated their innovative approach to design by transforming garments into new silhouettes and styles, reflecting both creativity and craftsmanship. Particularly noteworthy were the self-designed dupattas, which were showcased in unique categories such as white-on-white and stencil printing, providing exemplary work that impressed the audience.Adding to the richness of the exhibition, a special display was organized at the Heritage Resource Centre, featuring traditional textiles from various regions of India. The exhibit highlighted the textiles of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Gujarat, offering a cultural exploration of India’s rich textile heritage. The audience was also mesmerised by the local dance performance by students of the department. Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal encouraged the students and staff of the department as she found the exhibition a platform for students to exhibit their talents as budding designers as well as an opportunity to spread awareness about sustainable practices in the fashion industry, setting a powerful example for the future of fashion.
