Three Day Workshop on Skill Development and Entrepreneurial Opportunities

As a proactive initiative towards skill enhancement and placement of the students, Government Home Science College in collaboration with Regional Center for Entrepreneurship Development has organized a three day workshop on Skill Development and Entrepreneurial Opportunities. The workshop was inaugurated by Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal and Sh. Paramjit Singh, Principal Director, Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (RCED), Chandigarh. Sh. Paramjit sensitized the students about the five major upcoming areas of Food, Fashion, Fun, Fitness and Fineness industries that fetch huge demand for skilled manpower. He elaborated how the Home Scientist can get a scope of employment in these areas. He further motivated the students to become job creators rather than job seekers by setting up of their own ventures. He also explained various funding opportunities available under Prime Minister Employment Generation Program (PMEGP). Sh. Sanjeev Kumar Veema, Additional Director, Petroleum Conservation Research Association, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, focused on advantages of petroleum industry and its further opportunities for students. The session concluded with generating awareness amongst students regarding various job opportunities. Prof. Sudha Katyal expressed her gratitude to the honorable guests to share their valuable knowledge and for giving opportunity to students to think out of the box with respect to skill development in various fields.
