Workshop On Women Health and Diabetes Held at Home Science College, Sec 10, Chandigarh

A workshop cum awareness session on Women Health and Diabetes held at Home Science College for hostel residents on 12/11/24. It was conducted in collaboration with Livasa Hospital and Toreque pharmceuticals. Dr. Balveen Kaur, a renowned gynaecologist from the hospital, addressed the crucial topic of women's health and diabetes for the hostel girls. The session was organized by IEP cell of the college as part of an ongoing initiative to promote health and well-being among young women, particularly in the context of increasing lifestyle-related diseases like diabetes. More than 100 UG and PG hostel residents attended the session. Dr. Kaur, in her insightful talk, emphasized the growing prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes among young women, particularly those living in urban settings. She discussed how factors like poor dietary habits, lack of physical activity, and stress can contribute to the onset of diabetes. With a focus on prevention, Dr. Kaur urged the students to adopt a balanced diet, engage in regular exercise, and be mindful of their mental health to reduce their risk of developing diabetes. The session proved to be very informative and many students asked their queries at the end of session.
