CLEANLINESS DRIVE

Cadets of Government Home Science College has initiated several cleanliness drives under Swatch Bharat Abhiyan started by our Honourable Prime minister Narendra Modi, cadets not only actively participate in cleaning their surrounds but also create awareness and encourage others to do the same through rallys and posters.

ONLINE PLEDGE

During the hard times of Covid-19 when it was not possible come out and help , the cadets came forward with the help of initiative of the Government kept spreading awareness digitally through taking online pledges and also encouraging people to take these pledges generated by government of India through mygov app which is a  citizen engagement platform  launched by the Government of India on 26 July 2014 to promote the active participation of Indian citizens in their country's governance and development. It is aimed at creating a common platform for Indian citizens to "crowdsource governance ideas from citizens".

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was a celebrated of the 75th anniversary of independence. On this occasion HAR GHAR TIRANGAcampaign was launched by Government of India. Honourable Principal Mam, Prof. Sudha Katyal , Staff Members along with NCC cadets took out rallies to create awareness among the citizens and gave their contribution to encourage this campaign.Cadets distributed National flag to people which strengthened feeling of patriotism is everyone’s heart.

E-Collage Making

The NCC wing of Government Home Science College organized a National level Inter-College Digital Collage Making Competition On ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat’ On 74th Independence Day.. Various NCC cadets  participated in the same and showcased their own mini ventures or business , they also presented their extraordinary talent and how they can use their work to generate income and become self independent.

NCC Cadets of Government Home Science College attended webinar onNATIONAL EDUCATION POLICYconducted by NCC Group of Chandigarh and gained knowledge about governments’latest policies .

Yoga Day Celeberation

The Outbreak of COVID 19 Pandemic withheld the students from coming to campus since March 2020.Even then the NCC cadets of Govt. Home Science College, Chandigarh observed International Yoga Day every yearthrough onlinemode on the theme stated byGovt. of India . The cadets performed Yoga in their houses.The celebration inspired the NCC cadets to perform Yoga understanding its merit, both physically and mentally.

BLOOD DONATION BY NCC CADETS

“Donating blood is an act of solidarity”

World Blood Donor Day is celebrated on June 14, every year. The day is celebrated with the aim of raising awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products as a lifesaving gift.

The day also provides an opportunity to call to action governments and national health authorities to provide adequate resources to increase the collection of blood from voluntary, unpaid blood donors and to manage access to blood and the transfusion of those who require it.Voluntary blood donors are the cornerstone of a safe and adequate supply of blood and blood products.NCC Cadets voluntarily donates blood time to time to provide a small yet significant contribution to the society not only through awareness programmes but by providing such contributions.

Tree Plantation Drive

In view to support Government’s initiative to plant more trees, Tree Plantation Drive was organized at Home Science College sector-10 Chandigarhin collaboration with NCC Unit. The students actively participated in the event and more than 40 saplingswere planted in the college campus. The cadets participated in the drive enthusiastically and helped each other in planting the saplings. The cadets also took an oath to look after the planted saplings, plant more and more trees and encourage others to do the same..

TRIBUTE TO CDS BIPIN RAWAT AND OTHERS

The NCC Cadets of Govt. Home Science Collegepaid tribute to CDS Bipin Rawat and other brave hearts of unfortunate helicopter crash on December 8.In remembrance of the martyrs a candlelight march was organised by the cadets,it was sad and unfortunate moment of Indian military history when they lost their chief of defence staff General Bipin Rawat who died along with his wife and 11 other security personnel in an IAF helicopter crash near Coonoor in Tamilnadu.

With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to harrow everyone, especially the frontline workers tasked to mitigate the crisis, in a commendable gesture worthy of emulation, NCC Girl Cadets of Govt. Home Science College had come forward with the initiative of locally stitched high quality pleated cotton face masks for District Authorities along with motivational quotes to boost up their moral.The first lots of masks have been handed over to Chandigarh administration and others were handed to the needful, As per PMO’s directions on “Mask India Movement” . They did a great deal of work sourcing cotton clothes themselves and stitching high quality pleated masks.
