The Department of Foods and Nutrition offers Post Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics. The program aims to develop core competencies in all the fields of nutrition. The aim is to train a cadre of professionals who would work as dieticians, nutrition consultants and public health hospital set up. This programme will enable the students to comprehend the principles of human physiology and biochemistry, for understanding the human diseases and their management, acquire knowledge on nutritional programmes and policies of the government and acquire skills for development of diet therapy and establishment of food service units. The course is of 1 year duration divided into 2 semesters. A 3 month internship in a multidisciplinary 100 bedded hospital is compulsory as part of the curriculum. Apart from this, skill enhancement is achieved through practical training courses such as running of cafeteria and diet clinic.
